Michael Pozzan Gold Series: Exceptional Wines
from Exceptional Vineyards
We produce our top-tier, MP Gold Series Wines in very limited quantities. Because we hand select our grapes only from premier Napa Valley vineyards, these wines are difficult to acquire due to their low production and may vary year-to-year. Our advice is to cellar these wines and enjoy them on special occasions.
Pozzan Gold Series 2012 Back Barn Zinfandel, Oakville, Napa Valley
100% Napa Valley Zinfandel, Oakville AVA
Aged in new French, American and Hungarian oak for 18 months.
The color of this massive zinfandel is medium plum with light, brick-red edges. Supple and silky oak notes from a complex blend of French, American and Hungarian oak frame the rich and spicy aromas of this classic zinfandel. The palate is super-extracted in its fruit composition, with rich sappy vanilla, clove and then an explosion of boysenberry and blackberry. The finish closes with classic black pepper spice and sweet, ripe cherry.
This fine Napa zinfandel pairs well with slow-cooked meats like dry-rubbed pork loin smoked for hours over oak; short ribs roasted all day and severed with parsnip mashed potatoes and okra or pickled beets. Old-vine zinfandels like this pack a punch with slightly higher alcohols, so they often last into dessert—and for some, make a nice segue to an occasional cigar.

Pozzan Gold Series 2011 Back Barn Zinfandel, Oakville, Napa Valley
100% Napa Valley Zinfandel, Oakville AVA
Aged in French Oak for 14 months
Medium plum color with aromas of dried raspberry and wild blackberry, french oak vanilla and black pepper spice notes. The palate is refined with expressive and concentrated old vine character, supple and concentrated from the first sip with a rich, sappy core of cinnamon and black cherry notes - then turn to ripe plum with interesting dried fruit quality, reminiscent of a fine Amarone. The finish is balanced in its concentration with ripe plum, cherry essence and pomegranate and replete with exotic spices like clove, sandalwood, cinnamon and allspice.
This special Zinfandel is grown in the Pozzans backyard in the town of Oakville in the Napa Valley (Population 400) grown from organically grown grapes. The sad reality of Napa Zinfandel is that few producers make it anymore due to the popularity (and profitability) of newer Cabernet Sauvignon plantings. Here is a small and rare offering from the road less travelled.

100% Oakville AVA
100% Zinfandel
Aged 12 months in French and American oak
This medium plum colored rich Zinfandel shows incredible concentration of wild raspberry and bramble fruit. 2011 Napa Valley Red Wine Blend
A unique blend of Syrah, Petite Sirah, Zinfandel from the Napa Valley, Oakville AVA
Aged in new and seasoned French oak for 24 months.
The medium plum color of this impressive blend demonstrates the extraction established in this challenging vintage. The aromas are generous, with French and European oak lactones framing the spice from the Zinfandel. The palate is silky smooth with rich Tahitian vanilla and a sappy core of French oak that wraps around juicy syrah and petite sirah. The flavors balance between red and blue fruit—raspberry and bramble (from the syrah) and blueberry and boysenberry (from the petite sirah). The finish becomes more zinfandel, white and black pepper spicy with generous fruit that makes for a long finish.
This wine pairs well with roasted game such as venison, or any beef dish—however, if a decision must be made, go for the short ribs with garlic-mashed potatoes and sautéed green beans.
